French Immersion


The Montessori School of Chevy Chase now offers their Primary Montessori Program
through French immersion as well as English.

1. French Immersion Teacher:
  • Nathalie Cataisson, our French teacher is a native of France with an academic      
    bachelors degree and an AMS Montessori Certification.
  • She is Fluent in English as well as French.
  • She has a strong commitment
     to the immersion concept of
     education.

2. French Immersion Curriculum:

  • The Montessori School of
     Chevy Chase French Immersion
     Program follows the Montessori
     curriculum. It includes Practical
     Life, Sensorial, Reading/
     Language Arts, Mathematics,
     Geography, Science, Art and
     Music.

  • Teaching is done entirely in
     French and is supported by the
     use of materials in French
     throughout the morning
     instruction.
  • Children are immersed in
     various aspects of French
     Culture.  

3. Benefits of Early Immersion:

  • Children ages 3 - 6 are in a
    sensitive period for language
    acquisition.  During this period
    children easily absorb a second
    language just as they learn their
    first.  They are immersed in
    everyday experiences in addition
    to their curriculum studies.  
    Children begin to use their
    French to ask questions,
    talk to their peers, express
    ideas,  feelings and thoughts.
